About Our School

All schools in the Washington Elementary School District are committed to achieving excellence for every child, every day, every opportunity. Cactus Wren Elementary School's curriculum is fully aligned with State Standards. Cactus Wren provides an effective K-6 educational foundation. All students are considered special and all staff and students uphold multicultural respect. Special needs programs address academic learning differences, emotional disabilities, speech and language disabilities, and gifted in both resource and self-contained settings. Art, music and PE are provided at all grade levels. We are committed to the belief that each student must be afforded the opportunity for maximized growth academically, socially, and in developing personal responsibility.

Daily Schedule
Office Hours:     7:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
School Hours:    7:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
PLC Wednesday dismissal: 1:00 p.m.
PLC Wednesday Office Hours: 7:00 a.m.- 2:30 p.m.

Please arrange your student's departure from home so that he or she
doesn't arrive at school before 7:15 a.m. Students may not be on
campus without supervision, and our teachers' workday officially begins
 at 7:15 a.m.

All students are expected to leave campus at dismissal time, 2:30 p.m.,
unless they are attending an adult-supervised after-school program and 
have the written permission from either parent or staff. Your child will need
to be picked up and dropped off in the south parking lot.

Visitors
You must check into the office when you are visiting the campus, sign in and wear a visitors pass.

Meet the Teacher Night: August 5, 2021

We are very excited about the 21-22 school year and cannot wait to have your student this year! This message is to share important information about your child’s teacher and meet the teacher night!

 You and your child will have the opportunity to meet his/ her teacher on Thursday, August 5 from 4:30-6:30.  Safety during this event is our first priority.  Please support our safety efforts by doing the following:

       Social distancing whenever feasible

       Wearing a mask if unvaccinated  and

       Staying home if you are sick

 We encourage families to come during your specified time to reduce the amount of people on campus.

  • Students with the last name A-E are encouraged to come between 4:30-5:00
  • Students with the last name F- L are encouraged to come between 5 and 5:30
  • Students with the last name M-R are encouraged to come between 5:30 and 6 and
  • Students with the last name S-Z are encouraged to come between 6 and 6:30

Thank you for your cooperation and support.  If you are not feeling well or would prefer not to come on campus due to health and safety concerns, teachers will be uploading a virtual “Meet the Teacher” video onto their grade level website on Friday, August 6.
